Time or Desire?

“You shall have no other gods before me.”

What comes to mind when you hear this commandment?  Is the golden images, poles and statues of the Old Testament?  If it is, I implore you to consider another possibility; the possibility that your own desires become gods in the presence of the true God.

2 Kings 17:41 “So these nations feared the Lord and also served their carved images.”

In modern-day lingo, I think this verse would read “So these nations feared the Lord and also served their own dreams and desires.”

If you are struggling to find victory today, consider where your loyalties lie.  Do you truly desire and fear God above your human wants and desires?  It’s a difficult thing to do and is only fully accomplished through prayer and the reading of His Word.

Enduring to victory takes perseverance; it might not yet be God’s time.  But take time to consider whose plan you are truly seeking.
