Mental Exhaustion

Hey you!

Are you tired?  Discouraged?  Defeated?

Was today one of those days you would just as soon forget?

Maybe you had the whole day planned out and everything seemed to go wrong.  Maybe you received bad news.  Maybe you finally mopped the kitchen floor and five minutes later you spilled a cup of milk (yep, that’s me!).

Sometimes life just feels overwhelming.  We work and strive and wonder if anything we do really makes a difference.  We find our homes filled with yelling instead of laughter, we beat ourselves up for making poor decisions and, quite frankly, we are just mentally EXHAUSTED.

I’ve been there.  I’ve questioned the roles God has given me to play (read that story here).  I’ve wondered whether I’m alone in fighting these battles.

But the truth is, I am not.

Deuteronomy 31:6 says “So be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid and do not panic before [your troubles]. For the LORD your God will personally go ahead of you. He will neither fail you nor abandon you.”

So chin up!  While the journey isn’t easy, the victory will be sweet!  Sometimes the views are breath taking and other times we feel like we will never leave the tunnel.  But in both of those places God is leading us to the victory.  Sometimes the victory is found here on earth and other times he calls us to wait until our reunion with him.

So don’t give up, tired heart.  God is present in all your circumstances.  Resting on his promise to never fail or abandon you should leave your heart encouraged.

But just in case you need a little extra boost, here are some songs that have become the cry of my heart!
